The Navigli canals are a magical place where time almost seems to have stood still. Take a guided walking tour to discover some of the most fascinating corners of Milan and have fun in one of the city's most picturesque neighborhoods.

This experience is part of STEP , a selection of walking tours specially designed for visitors who are not visiting a city for the first time and want to explore their destination even further. Find hidden gems, meet the locals and discover the city off the beaten tourist track. Your licensed guide, a local insider, will provide recommendations and show you the best photo spots along the route.

The tour begins at the Basilica of St. Eustorgio, a 4th-century Christian church. Here you will see a large sarcophagus where, according to legend, the relics of the Magi are kept and the Portinari Chapel. Your guide will provide you with explanations and anecdotes during the tour along the new pier towards the Naviglio Pavese and the Naviglio Grande. You will learn about the canal network, the contribution of Leonardo da Vinci, commercial activities from the Middle Ages to the 19th century, the faces of the Ticinese district of yesterday and today, and its musical traditions and sports.

During the walking tour you will feel the special atmosphere of the Navigli, unique in Milan. There is a mix of old and new here in a stylish Milanese ambience. You will also visit one of the most picturesque and historical corners of Milan: the Vicolo dei Lavandai (The Alley of the Washerwomen). You will learn all the tricks of the washerwomen and visit the inner courtyard of a typical Milanese "railed house".
